BRISTOL, Va. - Maurice W. ``Bill' Blakey, 89, of 1 Liberty Place, formerly of Greensboro died Sept. 10, 1992, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

A native of Kentucky, he was a former educator, a retired pharmaceutical salesman from Pfizer and a graduate of Berea College.

A native of Winston-Salem, he was a retired engineer.

LENIOR - Elmo Carpenter, 74, of 928 Plantation Drive died Sept. 10, 1992, at Caldwell County Hospice.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. today at Westminster Gardens.

A native of Wake County, he was a retired manager of office administration for Duke Power, a former office supervisor for Duke Power in Salisbury, a former member of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Rotary Club and former director of the United Way. He was a World War II Army veteran, a Korean War Air National Guard veteran and a veteran of the National Guard.

Surviving are wife, Theressa Atkins Carpenter; daughters, Mrs. Bonn Lynn Poteat of Morganton, Mrs. Dawn Isenberg of Salisbury, Mrs. Deanne Crowell of Bunn Level, Anita C. Kiser of Greensboro; mother, Mrs. Ozie Keith Carpenter Parker of Lenior; half brothers, Alex C. Carpenter Jr. of Norlina, Braxton J. Carpenter of Henderson; half sisters, Brenda C. Spain of Roanoke Rapids, Patti Ann C. Watson of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren.

LAKELAND, Fla. - Edith Downing Cheek, 62, of Lakeland, Fla. died Sept. 10, 1992, at her home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Gentry-Morrison Southside Funeral Home in Lakeland, Fla. Burial will be in Oak Hill Burial Park.

A native of Wilmington, she was a secretary, a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lakeland Chapter 26, a member and past president of Sesame Grottoettes, a member of the Winter Haven Chapter 86 W.A.C. Veterans Association and a former medical technician for the Army.

Surviving are parents, George and Willa Mae Downing of Wilmington; daughters, Kay Cheek Ellsworth of Graham, Teresa Diane Martsolf of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Kim Edward Downing of Wilmington; sister, Lee Wagoner of Burlington.\

EUREKA - Jennifer Davis, 25, of Eureka died Sept. 11, 1992, at Duke University Medical Center.

Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Shackleford Funeral Home in Fremont. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery.

She was a graduate of Charles B. Ayco*ck High School, a member of Eureka United Methodist Church and attended Elon College.

Surviving are parents, Charles T. and Joyce Varnell Davis; sisters, Mrs. Nora Ayco*ck of Pikeville, Miss Lisa Davis of Greensboro; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Sallie M. Davis of Eureka.

GRAHAM - Walter Ellis, 67, of 1117 Kelly St. died Sept. 11, 1992, at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Durham.

A native of Chatham County, he was a retired construction worker and a World War II veteran.

ELLERBE - Herman George Mabe, 72, of Route 1 died Sept. 11, 1992, at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Durham.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. Burial will be in White Oak Springs Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Star.

A native of Stokes County, he was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran.

A native of Wilkes County, she was the a retired co-owner of Transit Damaged Freight and a member of Rolling Height Baptist Church.

He was a native of Slab Fork, W.Va.

BISCOE - Lonnie Dwight Reynolds, 70, of 607 S. Main St. died Sept. 10, 1992, at Moore Regional Hospital.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Biscoe Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

A native of Hoke County, he was retired from Springs Mills, a World War II Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 9881 and a charter member of DAV Chapter 12.

Surviving are wife, Annie Greene Reynolds; daughters, Mrs. Sharon Brewer, Miss Deborah Reynolds, both of Biscoe; son, Gary Reynolds of Biscoe; sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Kennedy of Biscoe, Mrs. Lucille Hicks of Troy; brother, Claude Reynolds of Biscoe; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

A native of Franklin County, Va., she was retired from sales knitting, a former employee of Stanley Garments and a member of Woodland Heights Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Neal W. Riddle; daughters, Charlotte R. Wood, Brenda Faye Hanks, both of Martinsville; sisters, Rose Smith of Reidsville, Florence Summers of Roanoke Rapids, Virginia Chambers of Rayford; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

REIDSVILLE - Airlean Roberts Roach of 1210 Lyle St. died Sept. 10, 1992, at Brian Center in Eden.

Funeral will be at noon today at Trinity Holy Tabernacle Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Greenview Cemetery.

A native of Rockingham County, she was retired from New Laundry and Dry Cleaners and a member of the Community Flower Club.

Surviving are sisters, Margaret Pratt, Mary Eva Mobley, both of Akron, Ohio; brothers, James Roberts, Rufus Roberts, both of Akron, Ohio.

The family will be at the church 11:30-noon today.

A native of Ribnitz, Germany, she was a homemaker, a former member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, an honorary member of Salisbury International Women's Club, a member of the Canasta Club and of the Evangelical Lutheran faith.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Rita S. Johnson of the home; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

A native of Ritchie County, W.Va., he was retired president and owner of Atlanta Fence Co., a graduate of Salem College in W.Va., a World War II veteran, a member of Morningside Masonic Lodge 295 in Atlanta, a member of Yaarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta and a member of the Decatur-Stone Mountain Elks Lodge 1603.

Surviving are wife, Sibyl M. Summers; son, Timothy M. Summers of Decatur, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Roena Moseley of Decatur, Ga.

A native of Norfolk, Va., she was a former organist and piano teacher and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

ASHEBORO - Gertrude Lowe Winslow, 79, of Route 3 died Sept. 11, 1992, at Mountain View Care Center.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Science Hill Friends Meeting, of which she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Randolph County, she was retired from Acme-McCrary.

Surviving are sons, Hal W. Winslow, W. Claude Winslow, both of Asheboro, Jasper C. Winslow of Monroe; sister, Mrs. Esther Lou Phillips of Ramseur; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
